Buster Shuffle

@ Festsaal Kreuzberg

Auf Tour teilten sie sich die Bühne mit Flogging Molly, Mad Caddies, Less Than Jake, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes oder The Interrupters.

Was ist richtig? Was ist falsch?

ENSLAVED & SOLSTAFIR

@ Festsaal Kreuzberg

Norway’s progressive metallers Enslaved have announced a co-headline with Iceland's Sólstafir, with support coming from Norway's Gaahls Wyrd. The three bands will hit the road across the UK and Europe in February 2027. Enslaved will be touring in support of their new album Mið, to be released on October 30th via Nuclear Blast Records. Sólstafir are playing in support of their latest released record Hin helga kvöl. Enslaved comment on the tour: “Europe! In February we are heading out on a co-headlining tour with our good friends in Sólstafir and special guests Gaahls Wyrd. There is a kinship here that goes beyond a shared enthusiasm for questionable weather: the belief that music should be allowed to find its own path, even when it refuses to explain where it is going. Bringing ‘Mið’ into that company, and into a room with all of you, feels very right. Making a record is one part of the adventure; discovering what happens to it when we meet you out there is another. That exchange still means everything to us. See you in the flesh!” Enslaved’s new album, Mið, an Old Norse word for ‘centre’, or ‘middle’, marks another departure, and another new beginning. The band have always dealt in states of transition, nor least on the thematically linked, mythology-steeped rites of passage that were 2020’s Utgard and 2023’s Heimdal. Hin helga kvöl blends SÓLSTAFIR's signature melancholic sound with elements from their past, creating an album that is both reflective and innovative, not only in scope but in songcraft. At the heart of Hin helga kvöl are the heartfelt and electrifying personal performances of the band that highlight SÓLSTAFIR’s ability to merge genres seamlessly into something unheard of.

ELDER

@ Festsaal Kreuzberg

Two decades into their existence, Elder remain an anomaly in the underground rock scene - a rare band with the ability to absorb and shed influences from a myriad of genres without falling into pastiche or losing their own identity. Their new record Through Zero is a strong reaffirmation of a commitment to pushing boundaries in the world of heavy rock and cements the group’s status as leaders of the pack in heavy psychedelic rock. Elder has long since mastered crushing riffs, melodic jaunts, progressive patterns, hypnotic grooves and ethereal atmosphere along their path of music-making in the past twenty years. On Through Zero, Elder takes these years of experience and forms possibly their most immediate and engaging record to date, while allowing seeds from outside the sphere of rock music to take root and bloom within their progressive framework. Listeners will find familiar elements of new textures, sequences, and sounds alongside Elder’s iconic take on heavy rock. As always, every spin reveals new details. Recorded in Berlin across several months between tours in 2025, Through Zero is the first album which the band not only produced but also co-mixed together with longtime collaborator Richard Behrens. The album sounds more like a full extension of the band’s creative intentions than ever before. Elder was founded sometime around 2006 or so - nobody remembers exactly - in a small coastal town in Massachusetts by three longtime friends with a passion for heavy downtuned music. Over the years, the band has gained a guitarist, lost a drummer, relocated (mostly) from the States to Germany, played hundreds of shows from small clubs to arenas across the world and released six full-length albums, four EPs and two live records. Though this pedigree isn’t a requirement for anything, the twists and turns along the group’s winding road to today might explain the group’s refusal to stagnate.

Julia Jacklin

@ Festsaal Kreuzberg

A lot of the time I feel like I need to do all the work before I can enjoy my life,” says Julia Jacklin of her third album, PRE PLEASURE. “Whether that’s work on songs or sex, friendships, or my relationship with my family – I think if I work on them long and hard enough, eventually I’ll get to sit around and really enjoy them. But that’s not how anything works is it. It’s all an ongoing process.” The binary of casual crisis is a powerful force in Julia Jacklin’s music. Since releasing her debut album Don’t Let the Kids Win in 2016, the Melbourne-via-Blue Mountains singer/songwriter has carved out a fearsome reputation as a direct lyricist, willing to excavate the parameters of intimacy and agency in songs both stark and raw, loose, and playful. If her folky 2016 debut Don’t Let the Kids Win announced those intentions, and the startling 2018 follow-up Crushing drew in listeners uncomfortably close, PRE PLEASURE is the sound of Jacklin gently loosening her grip. Conceived upon returning home at the end of a mammoth Crushing world tour, and finished in a frantic few months of recording in Montreal (“The songs on this record took either three years to write or three minutes”), PRE PLEASURE sees Jacklin expanding beyond her signature sound, while conjuring the ripples and faultlines caused by unreliable communication. Stirring piano-led opener ‘Lydia Wears A Cross’ channels the underage confusion of being told religion is profound, despite only feeling it during the spectacle of its pageantry. The gentle pulse of ‘Love, Try Not To Let Go’ and dreamy strings of ‘Ignore Tenderness’ betray an interrogation of consent and emotional injury (beneath the sheets you’re just a cave / a plastic bucket, or a grave / who said you’re not what you get / you are what you gave away). The stark ‘Less Of A Stranger’ picks at the generational thread of a mother/daughter relationship, while the hymnal ‘Too In Love To Die’ and loose jam of ‘Be Careful With Yourself’ equate true love with the fear of losing it. Gorgeous string- drenched closer ‘End Of A Friendship’ offers a grand gesture of post-communication – an effort to bestow fireworks on a friendship that’s fizzled out. “I care so much about the people around me, so much it makes me want to sleep forever, it feels so overwhelming” says Jacklin. “I wasn’t raised in an environment where language was used to express love and care, part of my songwriting process is me trying to rectify that, force myself to put words to those feelings” Recorded in Montreal with co-producer Marcus Paquin (The Weather Station, The National), PRE PLEASURE finds Jacklin teamed with her Canada-based touring band, bassist Ben Whiteley and guitarist Will Kidman, both of Canadian folk outfit The Weather Station. It also introduces drummer Laurie Torres, saxophonist Adam Kinner and string arrangements by Owen Pallett (Arcade Fire) recorded by a full orchestra in Prague. “Making a record to me has always just been about the experience, a new experience in a new place with a new person at the desk, taking the plunge and just seeing what happens” says Jacklin, on the decision to travel to Canada and work with a new producer for the third time in as many albums. “For the first time I stepped away from the guitar, and wrote a lot of the album on the Roland keyboard in my apartment in Montreal with its inbuilt band tracks. I blu-tacked reams of butcher paper to the walls, covered in lyrics and ideas, praying to the music gods that my brain would arrange everything in time.” You can hear it in the spare drum machine and piano of ‘Lydia Wears A Cross', which rustles to life on clattering percussion, synths and a solitary dirty lead guitar line. ‘Love, Try Not To Let Go’ (“I need you to believe me when I said I found it hard / to keep myself from floating away”) skates along on airy keys and crisp drums, before blossoming into thundering guitar chords under Jacklin’s full-voiced declaration: “try not to let go”. The sprinkling of strings, chimes and saxophone lend ‘ignore tenderness’, ‘Moviegoer’ and ‘End Of A Friendship’ a woozy dreaminess at odds with Jacklin’s detailed portrayals of shifting personal politics. Those musical flourishes can be traced to an inspiration Jacklin rediscovered while questioning her own motivation at the end of the Crushing tour. “Once music becomes your job, you can lose the purity of music fandom,” says Jacklin. “I spent the last two years trying to reconnect with that. I didn’t play much, I just listened. Especially to a lot of big pop music like Celine Dion, Robyn and Luther Vandross – music that wasn’t so heavy, big feelings, big production. You lose sight of what putting on a big, beautiful song can do.” Jacklin remembers being eight years old, sitting at the kitchen bench playing the Canadian superstar’s 1996 hit ‘Because You Loved Me’ on repeat from her dad’s CD player. Listening to it again in 2020, “brought back a lot of nice, uncomplicated feelings about music,” says Jacklin. “Pure joy and feeling. And as someone relatively introverted and trying to be cool, Céline was a good person for me to lock onto during this period, because she’s definitely not that. She’s dramatic as hell and incredibly cheesy. I think listening to her helped me get over myself.” There are moments throughout the ten songs that reflect this source inspiration, and Jacklin’s willingness to explore new terrain as both a producer and songwriter, but ultimately PRE PLEASURE presents Jacklin as her most authentic self; an uncompromising and masterful lyricist, always willing to mine the depths of her own life experience, and singular in translating it into deeply personal, timeless songs.

Jersey

@ Festsaal Kreuzberg

Die zweite EP „Over & Over“ (2024) zementiert ihren kometenhaften Aufstieg.

Thundermother

@ Festsaal Kreuzberg

Swedish hard rock queens THUNDERMOTHER are back with their Napalm Records studio debut, Mothers of Thunder, out on February 5, 2027. Their seventh album once again proves that the genre’s leading ladies can do everything men could—and maybe even better. Their rock’n’roll vibe comes in with dirty riffs and cheeky lines, the powerful delivery begging for energetic live shows. THUNDERMOTHER have previously proven to excel at just that: after opening for the legendary Scorpions and Judas Priest, playing at iconic festivals like Wacken Open Air, Summer Breeze, or Sweden Rock, and releasing their first live album, Live’n’Alive, in 2026, the four-piece is ready for a new era. Mothers of Thunder is high-energy encouragement for women as well as thrilling, head-bopping fun for everyone else. The somewhat self-titled opening title track, “Mothers of Thunder”, is an ode to all women as well as an invitation to join THUNDERMOTHER in their ride. Calling mothers, daughters, and sisters as well as girlfriends and wives, the Swedish band is paving the way with this speedy track for those whom the future belongs to. “Restless” is another emancipatory manifesto: Singer Linnéa Vikström Egg teams up with her father, THERION’s Thomas Vikström, for a daddy-daughter argument turned song—a parent’s concerns on the one side, a child’s longing for freedom on the other, this song is as authentic as can be with real family delivering the vocals. Following, “Time Is Never Wasted (When You’re Wasted All The Time)” gifts Mothers of Thunder an instant rock classic, best played at clubs, pubs, or on the road, whereas “Front Row Bangers” goes straight back to the aforementioned live shows. The singalong hymn goes out to their most dedicated fans and the love they pour into the musicians on stage: “We do the show, but you’re the stars” lovingly underlines the importance of their support. Mid-tempo, blues-infused hard rocker “The Wet Blues”, dealing with a certain lust and loneliness, continues THUNDERMOTHER’s track record of delivering highly contagious bangers with strong vocal performances, having “Stalker” kick extra hard afterwards. Featuring Wild West vibes, this scarily calm song deals with a harsh reality of being a woman—from the perpetrator’s perspective. “Bimbo Boost” has the quartet return to their genre’s roots, only to turn them on their head: Playing the epic riff to Deep Purple’s “Smoke On The Water” backwards, THUNDERMOTHER address the pressure on female artists to always look perfect when going on stage—an expectation that passes by male musicians. “Get Up” is another self-empowerment hymn for women, whereas “Perfectly Miserable” is slower song (not a ballad!) every good rock album needs. The question “Do I Need A Doctor” is easily answered with a song this infectious, and raw “Dirty Word” follows in its footsteps. Closing off the album, “Shake Your Money Maker” adds a certain feel-good summer feeling to Mothers of Thunder. With their seventh album, THUNDERMOTHER take a step to become nothing less than rock goddesses. Mothers of Thunder is their time to shine, putting genre colleagues in their places with ease. The future belongs to THUNDERMOTHER!
